The best therapists have fur and four legs. ~ Anonymous
My mom rescued me from the Huron County Humane Society in Norwalk, Ohio when I was just 7 months old after I had been abused, starved, and neglected by my first owner.
A month after bringing me home I needed a pretty serious surgery because I had eaten a big plastic toy ring sometime before Mom got me and it had worked its way down to block my intestine. So in the beginning I was hurt and scared and a little shy with people, but Mom saved me, showered me with tons of love, and gave me comfort when I needed it the most.
Now, not only am I healthy, but I have become incredibly sweet, affectionate, outgoing, confident, and I love meeting new people.
After meeting the requirements to apply to become a Certified Therapy Dog I completed my training, applied, took the required series of tests and passed! So it was time to go to work!
Therapy dogs are "comfort dogs". Their job is to make people feel good. They can bring joy, stimulate the mind, boost morale, help with overall emotional well-being, provide company, assist in reducing stress or anxiety, lower blood pressure and comfort people during grief, illness, pain, sadness, or trauma.
The variety of people and places therapy dogs visit and the multitude of situations we are used for is endless and so very rewarding!

To see all the places that Therapy Dogs can serve check out the "Services" tab, but here are a few of the places that I currently visit...
I do scheduled visits to Fisher Titus E.R., TCU, Hospital and Rehab, Norwalk Memorial Home, Twilight Gardens, Gaymont Nursing Home, Bellevue Public Library and 2 private homes.
I also go with my mom to help her give talks
about therapy dogs and their services to schools, businesses, clubs, and organizations.
And I am a volunteer with the Red Cross in the Armed Forces Animal Visitation Program visiting veterans, wounded soldiers, and military personnel at a variety of events.
A huge shout out to Darling Dog Grooming in Norwalk, Ohio for keeping Echo beautifully groomed! They are a fantastic group of professional groomers who make every visit friendly and stress free for both dogs and dog owners! Echo loves going and always looks amazing when she comes out. They are affordable, clean, accommodating, and very professional.
We can not thank the staff at the Huron County Humane Society enough for all they do for the animals they shelter! Their facility is clean and the love for the animals under their care is immense. They organize tons of programs for the community, maintain a beautiful dog park and so much more. The staff is always friendly, helpful, and professional. If your considering adopting and would like to see their current adoptees or if you would like to donate blankets, food, toys, etc., check out their website!
All of Echo's medical needs and regular check-ups and vaccinations are done at Mapleview Animal Hospital in Norwalk, Ohio. We love all the staff and veterinarians at Mapleview! Everyone is so friendly and fun! Echo actually likes going! Echo also has a little sister named Lucy who is a Jack Russell. Lucy was adopted 8 years ago and hates getting her nails trimmed. She screams and squirms and has to be muzzled so she can't be done at a groomers, but Mapleview does it for us and they do an amazing job. They are so gentle with her and comfort her the whole time. We can't thank them enough for how loving and caring they are with both Lucy and Echo! They are an amazing staff!
